If you are a parent or a teacher sooner or later you will need to think about what kind of art supplies to get your children or your students. You want to make sure that the supplies that your children have to work with are non toxic and safe for chewing on. Very small children will need someone to watch them as they play with crayons, or the crayons may very well end up in their mouths.

Art is a great way to interact with your children. Starting around age one, kids will enjoy doing art along with you or their older sibling. When choosing kids art supplies you need to make sure that the produces are created according to safety standards in your particular state. Find products that have been tested rigorously and have conformed to the United States toy safety standards. If you are in Europe, make sure the products you purchase abroad conform to the strict European health standards as well.

Older children will need more than crayons. School age children will usually need a pair of blunt plastic scissors, non-toxic glue and colorful paper. Popsicle sticks are also a good idea for them to be able to make crafts.

One idea you can use for having small kids create art and crafts is letting them stack popsicle sticks on top of each other and glue the edges together. This make a nice little holder for their parent’s keys or other knick knacks.

You may be able to get more for less if you buy in bulk. Some coloring books, for instance, let you purchase just the coloring book and give you free crayons. There are also packages you can get such as pencils, crayons, a ruler and blunt scissors that you can pay less for. This way your child can have complete art supplies without your having to spend too much.

The reason that it is okay to buy these supplies within your budget is because most paint supplies can be cleaned using paint thinner. For this reason, no matter how many splashes an easel has, it will most likely work very well after a coating of paint or after you scrub the easel with a thinning solution.

This is especially true for stainless steel easels or for easels that are made of varnished wood. You can strip the paint of an old wooden easel and repaint it according to your own preference.

This is why a fluctuating economy is not really a good reason for you to be putting off your painting attempts. If you have been using the reason ‘expensive supplies’ for putting off your hobby or interest in painting, you will most likely change your mind when you see that supplies do not need to cost very much. All you need to do is be a little creative in hunting for the top quality supplies you need without the top quality cost.

Acrylic paint supplies such as the use of acrylic retarders are used to delay the fast drying time frame of acrylic paints. These retarders are usually of glycol or any glycerin-based additives. The addition of such acrylic paint supplies retarders will delay the drying period of the paint. It usually delays the evaporation period of water from the paint and allows for more water to be added to the paint solution.

For oil paints, it uses the mineral spirits and turpentine to clean up the painting. Acrylic paint is considered to be more flexible and more constant in terms of its drying time between colors. The “fat over lean” method which is visible in many oil paints are avoid as you now have the chance to use and repaint the item without fear of having cracking results to the image.

To have painting as a hobby, you need to have the right supplies and knowledge about the type of paint that you will be using.
